Inez Irene Reed, my second great grandmother

I first heard about Inez from my paternal grandmother when I was a young girl. She told me that she knew very little about Inez because she had left her husband and eight children and ran off with a traveling salesman when her children were still quite young.

The mystery of my second great grandmother intrigued me and I spent several years researching with my dad to know why she would leave her family with this unidentified traveling salesman. It wasn't until I began college that I found the first treasures that would unlock this mystery and paint a very emotional story of the trials that Inez Irene Reed faced during her life.

I have created this blog to share my research on the life of Inez Irene Reed and her family. I will begin with the end of her life. Below is a photo of her gravestone that was taken by
Carole Marie McMahan and published on the Find a Grave database. After extensive research, I found that Inez had left her husband and married William Dement.

Gravestone of Inez Irene Reed, despite the misspelling.[1]
